Notes

  • Texture Tip: If the patty mixture feels too wet after mixing, add a little more panko breadcrumbs or flour to help it hold together better.
  • Flavor Boost: Experiment with different spices, such as cumin or smoked paprika, to add extra depth to the flavor. You can also add fresh herbs like cilantro for a burst of freshness.
  • Freezing Option: If you're making these in advance, you can freeze the uncooked patties. Simply place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for an hour before storing them in an airtight container or zip-lock bag. This helps them keep their shape when frying.
  • Crispy Patties: For an extra crispy texture, double coat your patties with flour, egg, and panko breadcrumbs. This will ensure a crunchier exterior.
  • Alternative Toppings: Swap out the avocado for grilled mushrooms or a tangy pickled red onion for a unique twist. The possibilities are endless!
  • Healthier Option: For a lighter version, you can bake the patties instead of frying them. Simply place the patties on a baking sheet, spray with a little olive oil, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Burger Bun: Choose whole wheat or gluten-free buns if you're looking for a healthier or dietary-friendly option. For extra flavor, you can toast the buns with a little butter or olive oil.
